Hugh Jackman confirms Wolverine 3 will be his last outing as Logan

May 7, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Back in March, Hugh Jackman posted an image of Wolverine’s adamantium claws with the caption “one last time”, with The Wolverine helmer James Mangold subsequently revealing that Jackman was referring to the upcoming third solo outing for the fan-favorite mutant. Well, Jackman has now reiterated that his time as Logan is almost up, stating on the Dr. Oz show that:

[Wolverine 3] will be my last one. It is my last time. It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it. I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.”

Wolverine 3 is set for release on March 2nd 2017, and at this point it’s unclear whether we’ll see Jackman back in next year’s X-Men: Apocalypse, or Fox’s two X-Men spinoffs Deadpool and Gambit. But, given that he’s been a mainstay of the franchise so far, don’t be surprised if we do.
