Ghostbusters reboot starts shooting today, new plot details revealed

June 18, 2015 by admin

It’s had an uphill struggle getting the Internet behind it, but the Paul Feig’s all-female reboot to Ghostbusters begins shooting today in Boston. The film will be set in New York though as we’ve got some new plot details courtesy of The Herald.

“Wiig and McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. (Like the original, the story takes place in New York City, even though it’s being shot in Boston.) Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.”

The website also claims that Slimer will have a cameo appearance, but there is no word on whether we will get cameos from original Ghostbusters Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray. Word is that they haven’t even been able to get in touch with Murray to ask him. The Harold also says the script has undergone several script revisions and it may also get changed even as the film rolls into production.

Ghostbusters will be directed by Paul Feig (Spy) and stars Kristin Wiig (Bridesmaids), Melissa McCarthy (Spy), Leslie Jones (Saturday Night Live), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live) and Chris Hemsworth (Avengers: Age of Ultron).
