SDCC Rumour: Jurassic World’s Colin Trevorrow to direct Star Wars: Episode IX

July 10, 2015 by Luke Owen

Following the massive success of Jurassic World, reports are coming in that Disney are looking to hire its director Colin Trevorrow to direct Star Wars: Episode IX.

According to Heroic Hollywood, Disney and Lucasfilm will be officially announcing Trevorrow at their Hall H panel at the San Diego Comic Con today.

J.J. Abrams is directing Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Rian Johnson (Looper) is directing the follow up, Star Wars: Episode VIII. Godzilla director Gareth Edwards is helming Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One and The LEGO Movie‘s Chris Miller and Phil Lord are taking on the Han Solo movie.

Nothing is confirmed on this story just yet, so take this with a pinch of salt for now. We’ll know for sure by the end of play today.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set for release on December 18th and sees J.J. Abrams directing returning stars Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) in addition to Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (A Most Violent Year), Andy Serkis (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), Miltos Yerolemou (Game of Thrones), Max von Sydow (The Exorcist), Jessica Henwick (Spirit Warriors), Christina Chong (24: Live Another Day) and newcomers Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen.
