Rosario Dawson is unsure about her future with Marvel TV

May 29, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Rosario Dawson has pointed to parenting priorities as the reason why her future in Marvel’s television properties is uncertain.

Rosario Dawson, who plays Claire Temple in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s TV realm, has been a major presence in a number of different Netflix shows, including the likes of Daredevil and Luke Cage.

However, the actress has said that her time in the MCU might come to an end as working on these various shows is causing her to be too far away from her daughter. Speaking at MCM London Comic Con over the weekend (according to ScreenGeek), Dawson said:

“I don’t know if I’ll be back after [Luke Cage], to be honest, but it’s been an amazing few years. I’ve been on a lot of different shows. I mean, I don’t know if maybe they do a third season of Luke Cage potentially, or maybe if they figure out some kind of way for me to be on The Punisher – just so I can feel like I’ve done every show. But it’s been like, my daughter is in high school, so I kinda wanna not be 3,000 miles away for work.”

This is entirely understandable of course. Dawson and her family reside in LA and Marvel TV is based in New York. It’s not exactly a friendly commute. Though, this will, of course, be sad news to fans of the character and Dawson’s work on the shows.

After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.

Luke Cage season 2 is set to arrive on Netflix on June 22nd and features a cast that includes Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Simone Missick (Misty Knight), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), Alfre Woodard (Mariah Dillard), Theo Rossi (Shades), Finn Jones (Iron Fist), Thomas Q. Jones (Comanche), Gabrielle Dennis (Tilda Johnson), Mustafa Shakir (John McIver/Bushmaster), Reg E. Cathey (James Lucas) and Anabella Sciorra (Rosalie Carbone).
