Futuristic racer GRIP races onto consoles and PC this Autumn

June 8, 2018 by Andrew Newton

Wired Productions and developer Caged Element Inc. have announced that their fast paced futuristic arcade combat racer, GRIP, will arrive on the Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch this autumn; the game will also leave Early Access for a full release on PC.  A new trailer can be seen below showing the racing action…

In GRIP players will speed across 19 tracks spread across a variety of hostile alien worlds in armoured vehicles that reach speeds of 767 mph.  Fifteen different armoured vehicles can be selected from and customised with an array of paint jobs, decals, wheels and other details.  Players can kit their vehicles out with 11 devastating power-ups and weapons including explosive darts, mines, missiles and shields to give them the advantage in the highly competitive races.  Racers can use these weapons to not only target other competitors but also the environment causing structures etc. to collapse on them.

“It’s a dream come true to once again find myself working on another great racing project,” said Robert Baker, principal programmer for GRIP and former lead programmer at Rollcage’s developer, Attention to Detail. “There are so many elements to GRIP that take me back, and I love the true racing experience that Rollcage, and now GRIP, both deliver. GRIP is truly poised to be the spiritual successor to the Rollcage games of the late 90s that so many people loved playing.”

GRIP will be available on Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC later this year.
