Drew Goddard is interested in returning for a new Cloverfield movie

June 29, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Writer of Cloverfield, Drew Goddard, has revealed that he would be interested in returning to the franchise.

Now that Cloverfield has spawned a number of loosely connected sequels in anthology-style fashion, it’s easy to forget that the original film was written by Drew Goddard who has since gone onto the direct the likes of The Cabin in the Woods and is now at work on Bad Times at the El Royale and Fox’s X-Force.

A lot has changed in the Cloverfield universe since Goddard’s time as a writer (he executive produced the sequels) but would the man himself be interested in returning to pen another entry? Well, in a talk with Slashfilm he seemed up for the idea.

When discussing the planned direct sequel to the first Cloverfield film that is currently in the works, Goddard said: “I heard about that. I’m certainly not currently writing or directing it, but I also wouldn’t rule anything out. Look, I love that universe. I love J.J. I love [director] Matt [Reeves]. I think we all feel like we want to get the band back together eventually, so…”

What do you guys think, schedules permitting, should Goddard return to the franchise to work on a second Cloverfield entry?
