Overwatch free weekend coming to PC gamers this month

July 21, 2018 by Andrew Newton

With the Overwatch League Grand Finals in full swing Blizzard have announced that PC gamers can take part in the same adrenaline pumping action with the Overwatch Free Weekend starting on the 26th July and running until the 30th.  All PC users with a Blizzard account will be able to download and play Overwatch for FREE during this period and, should you decide to purchase the game afterwards then all progress will be kept.

During the free weekend players will have access to the full roster of 28 heroes including Wrecking Ball and 18 maps will be available to play on through a variety of game modes including Quick Play, Custom Games and the Arcade.  During this period players will be able to level up, earn Loot Boxes and even unlock a variety of customisation options for their heroes and don’t worry, these items and the levels gained will be available if you decide to purchase the game once the weekend has ended.

Maps that will be available include:

  • Assault: Hanamura, Horizon Lunar Colony, Temple of Anubis and Volskaya Industries.
  • Escort: Dorado, Junkertown, Rialto, Route 66 and Watchpoint: Gibraltar.
  • Assault/Escort Hybrid: Blizzard World, Eichenwalde, Hollywood, King’s Row and Numbani.
  • Control: Ilios, Lijiang Tower, Nepal and Oasis.

All you need to do to take part in the free weekend is download and install the Blizzard Battle.net desktop app and create a free Blizzard account (if you haven’t already done so), then click the Overwatch icon to install.  It’s as easy as A B C!

Make sure to give Overwatch a try next weekend – you won’t be disappointed.
