Timothy Zahn promises to pitch Mara Jade to Lucasfilm when the time is right

July 26, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Timothy Zahn, the creator of beloved Star Wars Legends character Mara Jade, doesn’t know if the character is in Episode IX but promises to pitch her to Lucasfilm when appropriate.

There are countless fan-favourite characters from Star Wars Legends that people would love to see become canon and make an appearance on the big screen or elsewhere. Mara Jade, Luke’s wife in Legends, might be the most popular of them all, however.

The character’s creator, Timothy Zahn, is unaware if she is featured in the screenplay for Episode IX (as has been rumoured) but told the Talking Bay 94 podcast that he would love for her to become canon if the story was appropriate:

“If there was a generic, or organic, spot for her to fit into a story…I promise people, I will pitch it to the Lucasfilm story group, and then, it’s their decision whether to allow it or not.”

There’s no doubt that longtime Star Wars fans would be delighted to see Mara Jade become canon but we will just have to wait and see if the opportunity presents itself.
