Damon Wayans is “having fun” on Lethal Weapon following Clayne Crawford’s firing

August 6, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Big changes are in store for FOX’s Lethal Weapon series following the firing of Clayne Crawford (Martin Riggs) due to his on-set behaviour, with Seann William Scott joining the show as his replacement, war veteran Wesley Cole.

Damon Wayans, who portrays Roger Murtaugh, had his own issues with Crawford during the first two seasons, but the actor has revealed to THR that he doesn’t hold any ill will towards his former co-star.

“I wish him the best,” said Wayans of Crawford. “Onward and upward for everybody. We’re only the first [episode] in but it’s definitely a lot lighter in tone and we’re having fun — on and off set. It’s a lot looser. Nobody is overthinking; we’re just doing and we’re having fun trying to get home.”

Wayans also touched upon where we’ll find Murtaugh in the upcoming third season following the death of Riggs: “Right now, Murtaugh is mourning the death of his friend, so he’s not that happy, silly Murtaugh. [Cole] is the light that Murtaugh needs to be pulled back out of that dark place.”

Lethal Weapon season three is set to premiere in the States on September 25th.
