Top Gun: Maverick pushed back a year as Terminator 6, Sonic the Hedgehog and A Quiet Place 2 get new dates

August 31, 2018 by Gary Collinson

THR is reporting that Paramount Pictures has shuffled the release dates for a number of its big upcoming movies, as well as dating the follow-up to this year’s hit horror A Quiet Place.

The Tom Cruise-headlined Top Gun: Maverick has been pushed back a year, and is now scheduled for take off on June 26th 2020 rather than July 12th 2019. The move is said to be allow more time for flight training in preparation for filming and moves it away from stiff competition in July 2019 which includes Spider-Man: Far From Home (July 5th) and The Lion King (July 19th).

Meanwhile, with Bond 25 seemingly facing delays following Danny Boyle’s exit, Paramount has moved to take advantage, shifting the live-action/CG-animated Sonic the Hedgehog up to November 8th from November 15th and setting the as-yet-untitled Terminator 6 on November 15th rather than November 22nd.

Finally, the studio has also set a May 15th 2020 release for A Quiet Place 2, with John Krasinski currently writing the script for the sequel and expected to return to the director’s chair.
