DC Universe’s Swamp Thing pilot to be directed by Len Wiseman

September 5, 2018 by Ricky Church

It was reported as a rumour a few days ago, but has now been made official. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed Len Wiseman (Sleepy Hollow) will direct the pilot for DC Universe’s live-action Swamp Thing.

Wiseman will also join the series as an executive producer. Aquaman‘s James Wan is executive producing Swamp Thing and was first sought to direct the pilot before passing on it. The pilot has been scripted by Gary Dauberman (It) and Mark Verheiden (Battlestar Galactica). Production on the pilot is slated to begin in the Fall, shooting in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Swamp Thing follows what happens when CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. There, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be gone after all.

The first series to premiere on DC Universe will be Titans followed by Doom Patrol. Though those two series will be connected, Swamp Thing is said to be a standalone show that will not connected with either of the other series.
