Mission: Impossible – Fallout becomes the highest-grossing movie of Tom Cruise’s career

September 10, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

After a blistering start in China last weekend, Mission: Impossible – Fallout has pushed its global haul to $726.6 million, making it not only the highest-grossing instalment in the spy series, but also the biggest movie of Tom Cruise’s career to date.

Fallout has earned $212.1 million domestically (leaving it just a shade behind Mission: Impossible II on $215.4 million), with a further $514.5 million internationally, including $137.7 million from 10 days in China.

Cruise’s previous record earner was 2011’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol on $694.7 million, while Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is the only other film of his to have passed the $600 million mark, earning $682.7 million back in 2015.

Globally, the Mission: Impossible franchise now stands on $3.5 billion across all six entries.
