Fantasy series The Dresden Files in development as a TV show

October 12, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

Fox21 Television Studios has won a competitive bidding war for the rights to Jim Butcher’s New York Times bestselling book series The Dresden Files and is set to development a TV adaptation of the contemporary fantasy.

Launching in 2000, The Dresden Files follow Harry Dresden, a private investigator and wizard who explores supernatural disturbances in modern day Chicago, coming into contact with vampires, demons, spirits, faeries, werewolves, outsiders, and other monsters.

The first book in the series, Storm Front, was published back in 2000, and spawned a further 14 instalments, the last of which, Skin Game, was released in 2014. The Dresden Files was previously adapted for the small screen by the Sci-Fi Channel back in 2007, with Paul Blackthorne (Arrow) starring in the title role in the short-lived series.
