Dwayne Johnson to star in Disney’s Jungle Cruise

August 20, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

After being announced as the lead voice actor for Moana at last weeekend’s D23 Expo, Dwayne Johnson is continuing his association with the House of Mouse with news that the actor is set to star in the studio’s Jungle Cruise, reveals The Hollywood Reporter.

Set to be written by Focus directing duo John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, Jungle Cruise is another film based on one of Disney’s classic rides, which transports those who ride it through an African setting as they sail through the Nile and Congo, passing an array of wildlife on their travels.

On the film, Johnson said: “[Disney production president] Sean Bailey and Disney have been awesome partners and now the fun part begins … We’re starting to put in the work with Requa and Ficarra and our creative team. Fired up about this one. Here we go.”

Johnson is as busy as ever over the next few years, with Fast & Furious 8 on the horizon, as well as his involvement in DC’s Shazam!, and big-screen adaptation of hit TV show Baywatch with Zac Efron set to shoot next year.
