A week before the 91st annual Academy Awards, it was the turn of the Writers Guild of America to hand out its honours on Sunday evening, with the 2019 WGA Awards taking place at simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York.
On the film side of things, Eighth Grade and Can You Ever Forgive Me? were awarded Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay respectively, while TV winners included the likes of Barry, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Americans, Castle Rock, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, Homeland and The Simpsons.
