Warner Bros. acquires Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Ferguson sci-fi thriller Reminiscence

March 4, 2019 by Ricky Church

After gaining The Greatest Showman‘s Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Ferguson last month, Lisa Joy’s (Westworld) directorial debut  Reminiscence has now found a studio, with Deadline revealing that Warner Bros. will distribute the sci-fi action thriller worldwide after a bidding war among several studios.

Reminiscence will see Jackman as Nicolas Bannister, “a rugged and solitary veteran living in a near-future Miami flooded by rising seas. Bannister is an expert in a dangerous occupation — he offers clients the chance to relive any memory they desire. His life changes when he meets Mae (Ferguson). What begins as a simple matter of lost and found becomes a passionate love affair. But when a different client’s memories implicate Mae in a series of violent crimes, Bannister must delve through the dark world of the past to uncover the truth about the woman he fell for. An epic story that travels the intimate and infinite world of memory, Reminiscence asks: How far would you go to hold on to the ones you love?”

Reminiscence is a co-production between Kilter Film, Michael De Luca Productions and FilmNation Entertainment. Joy will produce with her Kilter Film partner and husband Jonathan Nolan, Michael De Luca and Aaron Ryder with Athena Wickham and Elishia Holmes as executive producers. Principal photography will begin in late October of this year to allow for Joy and Nolan to complete work on the third season of HBO’s Westworld. Production will then take place in New Orleans and Miami.

This will mark the second time Jackman and Ferguson have worked together after starring in The Greatest Showman, for which a sequel is reportedly in early development, though it is currently unknown if either Jackman of Ferguson would return.
