Divergent two-part finale renamed Allegiant and Ascendant

September 11, 2015 by Tom Beasley

Originally published September 11, 2015. Updated April 14, 2018.

In the wake of this year’s Insurgent, the two final films in the Divergent series have been renamed – penultimate entry Allegiant after Veronica Roth’s final book and finale Ascendant a completely new name.

The new titles were revealed by MTV, who also unveiled the new logos for each of the films, which you can see above.

Both of these films will be based on Veronica Roth’s trilogy-closing novel Allegiant, which has been split into two parts by studio Lionsgate.

The taglines for the films have also caused speculation, with Ascendant‘s “the end is never what you expect” perhaps hinting at a departure from the way in which Roth’s trilogy concludes.

Allegiant will arrive in cinemas on March 18, 2016 and Ascendant will follow it a year later on March 24, 2017.
