Actress and comedienne Jenny Slate is set to join the cast of Gifted, reports Variety.
The Obvious Child star will star opposite Captain America himself Chris Evans in the drama as well as Octavia Spencer (Snowpiercer), Lindsay Duncan (Birdman) and newcomer McKenna Grace. Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man) is in the director’s chair for this one.
Gifted “tells the story of Frank Adler (Evans), a single man raising his 7-year-old, intellectually gifted niece Mary off the grid in rural Florida. In an attempt to help her experience a “normal” upbringing, Frank enrolls her in school, attracting the unwanted attention of his scheming mother who fights for custody of the girl only to exploit her gifts for selfish reasons. A familial tug-of-war takes form as they attempt to decide what is best for this remarkable girl.”
No release date has been set for the film, but expect to see it in 2016.
