Battle of the Sexes will serve up the story of King’s iconic 1973 inter-gender tennis match against former Wimbledon champion Bobby Riggs.

Riggs will be played by Steve Carell (Foxcatcher), hoping to hit an ace in another dramatic role for the star renowned for comedy performances.

The film has Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine) in place to direct, from a script by Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire).

Larson will be seen next in Room which opens in the States on October 16th before expanding wide on November 6th and hitting UK shores on January 29th.
