Poor Steve Rogers. Ever since he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’s been speculation about when Captain America is going to shuffle of this mortal coil and pass on the shield to his successor.
Naturally, this has intensified now that both The Winter Soldier and Falcon are part of the MCU and Chris Evans is nearing the end of his contract with Marvel Studios, and both Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie have been discussing whether they’d like to see their characters taking on the mantle of the Sentinel of Liberty.
“Myself,” Stan told the Salt Lake Tribune when asked who should take over from Evans. “I’ll say this: They sure like to dangle a cheese in front of my nose a lot. They’re like ‘Oh yeah, that’s where you pick up the shield,’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’ve heard that one before. There it is again.’ But I don’t know. If I could say one thing, if anyone can have anything to do with it, to make it happen, is you.”

Meanwhile, Mackie had a different idea on the topic, stating that: “I don’t think we need a new Cap. I don’t think Cap needs to change,. I think Sebastian Stan would be a great Cap, but then we’re left without Bucky. I think I’d be a great Cap, but then we’re left without a Falcon.”
