John Barrowman is returning for Arrow’s final season

August 20, 2019 by Liam Waddington

John Barrowman is set to reprise his role as Malcolm Merlyn, aka the Dark Archer, in some way, shape, or form in the final season of The CW’s Arrow.

Previously, Arrow lead Stephen Amell accidentally let slip that Barrowman would be returning for the eighth and final season at Fan Expo Boston 2019 (via CBR). Amell claimed:

“It’s part of the deal. Every ten years, I put on a tiny suit and I deliver John Barrowman a birthday cake,” Amell said. “He’s back in the show in Season 8 and that was actually a rider that he put into his contract.”

Now after this slip up,  Barrowman has posted an image to instagram confirming his return by sharing a picture of his chair on the set of the show.

Barrowman originally made his debut as Malcolm Merlyn all the way back in the first season of Arrow where Malcolm was revealed to be the villain know as the Dark Archer. Although, as Malcolm was killed off in the season 5 finale, this announcement pretty much confirms that his return in the final season will consist of a flashback, dream sequence or hallucination.

Arrow’s eighth and final season will premiere on Tuesday, 15th October on The CW. Are you looking forward to the final season? Are you happy to see John Barrowman returning in some capacity? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @flickeringmyth…
