Having officially announced Ewan McGregor’s return as the venerable Jedi Knight last month, Lucasfilm has now found a director and writer for its live-action Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney+.
As revealed by the official Star Wars website, Deborah Chow is set to direct the series, having impressed with her work on The Mandalorian, while Hossein Amini (Drive) will write the script. Chow, Amini and McGregor will also serve as executive producers alongside Tracey Seaward (The Queen), John Swartz (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy.
“We really wanted to select a director who is able to explore both the quiet determination and rich mystique of Obi-Wan in a way that folds seamlessly into the Star Wars saga,” said Kennedy. “Based on her phenomenal work developing our characters in The Mandalorian, I’m absolutely confident Deborah is the right director to tell this story.”
Specific details on the Obi-Wan series are being kept under wraps, but it has been revealed that the show will take place eight years after Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. It will be the third live-action Star Wars show produced for Disney+ after the upcoming Mandalorian and the Rogue One prequel spinoff revolving around Cassian Andor.
