Len Wiseman developing Die Hard 6 as a reinvention of the series

October 15, 2015 by Gary Collinson

It looks like Bruce Willis could be back for a sixth outing as John McClane, although this time he may not be getting in on much of the action himself.

According to Deadline, director Len Wiseman (Underworld) and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers) are making a deal with Fox to reinvent the action series with Die Hard 6 and are currently seeking a screenwriter.

The site reports that the film “is sort of a prequel while still leaving room for Willis to play McClane as well. Basically, he’ll bookend a story line that will be set much of the action in 1979, when McClane was a cop in gritty New York City and showing how he became a die hard kind of guy.”

The last instalment of the franchise, A Good Day to Die Hard, was released in 2013 and grossed over $300 million, despite being atrocious.
