Rin Tin Tin to be reimagined as “the John Wick of dogs”

November 14, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Warner Bros. is set to revive its classic Rin Tin Tin franchise, reimaging the canine hero as an action star – or rather, “the John Wick of dogs” – Deadline has revealed.

Matt Lieberman, whose credits include the recent The Addams Family and Playing with Fire along with next year’s Scoob!, is set to write the script for the new live-action movie, which will see Rin Tin Tin as an elite military dog on a covert mission to prevent a large scale terror attack.

The original Rin Tin Tin was a German Shepherd rescued from a World War I battlefield by an American soldier, who became an international star during the silent film era, appearing in a string of hit movies for Warner Bros., the success of which helped save the studio from bankruptcy.

The new film is being produced by Andrew Lazar (American Sniper, Cats & Dogs) along with Rin Tin Tin rights holders Sasha Jenson and Jeff Miller.
