March update brings CCTV to Rust

March 7, 2020 by Andrew Newton

The March update has arrived for Rust and it means that CCTV Cameras are no longer just a crafting ingredient to be used in turrets.  Thanks to the update these CCTV cameras can be hooked up around the player’s base to give that extra addition of security.  Check out the new trailer here showing just how useful a surveillance system can be…

CCTV cameras are now an extremely useful means for players to keep an eye on their property and by deploying a number of these around their base players can form a fully functional surveillance system which can be observed from a Computer Station.

After players position a CCTV camera they will need to equip a hammer to configure it and give it an identifier, this identifier is a unique name that can be up to 32 characters long and whoever knows it will be able to view the camera from any location.  When positioning the camera, players can set the direction and manually rotate the camera by pressing ‘E’.

The Computer Station can be researched and is available from the compound, once it has been obtained players can use it to start adding the camera names (identifiers) and then click on the appropriate camera to see what is happening.  At the moment there is no range restrictions on the distance between camera and computer station.
