According to a rumour from Jurassic Outpost, the Jurassic Park franchise may be about to expand onto the small screen, with the fan site claiming that Amblin Television is in development on a live-action Jurassic World TV series.
The site reports that Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Dominion director Colin Trevorrow will serve as a producer on the series alongside franchise veteran Steven Spielberg and Amblin co-presidents Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.
The potential series is said to not only exist in the same continuity as the movies, but will also tie into Jurassic World: Dominion, which Trevorrow is shooting now ahead of a release in June 2021. Production will take place in Vancouver, Canada, with the Universal-owned Peacock streaming service the show’s likely destination.
It’s worth stressing that, at this point, this remains unconfirmed rumour, but the Jurassic Park franchise is one of the biggest IPs at Universal, and so it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if NBCUniversal has plans to make use of it as part of its original content for the Peacock platform.
Jurassic World: Dominion is being directed by Colin Trevorrow and features a cast that includes franchise returnees Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, Justice Smith, Danielle Pineda, Jake Johnson and Omar Sy along with new additions DeWanda Wise (She’s Gotta Have It), Mamoudou Athie (Patti Cake$), Scott Haze (Venom) and Dichen Lachman (Altered Carbon). It is set for release on June 21st 2021.
