Rosario Dawson seemingly confirms Ahsoka Tano casting in The Mandalorian, Ming-Na Wen rumoured to return

April 15, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Last month it was reported that Rosario Dawson will be bringing the animated Star Wars fan favourite character Ahsoka Tano to life in the second season of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian, and while Lucasfilm is yet to confirm the casting, Dawson herself has now all but confirmed her involvement with the show.

“That’s not confirmed yet but when that happens, I will be very happy,” Dawson told Variety, before adding that she’s “very excited for that to be confirmed at some point” and it would be “a million and one percent because of the fans” who have long lobbied for her in the role of the former Jedi Padawan.

Since the casting rumours first emerged, it’s been claimed that Dawson has signed a multi-series deal to play Ahsoka (similar to that she had with Marvel Television for the various Defenders series), and that her role in The Mandalorian may be a “backdoor pilot” of sorts for her own Disney+ series.

Meanwhile, in other potential casting news for The Mandalorian season two, That Hashtag Show is suggesting that Ming-Na Wen will be reprising her role as Fennec Shand, a mercenary whom we saw in the first season episode ‘The Gunslinger’. Although the character was presumed dead, the episode did end with a mystery figure approaching her body, seemingly hinting at the possibility that her story may not be over just yet.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian is set to premiere in October 2020 and sees the returning Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin), Gina Carano (Cara Dune), Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon) and Bill Burr (Mayfield) along with Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) as Ahsoka Tano and Michael Biehn (The Terminator) as a bounty hunter.
