Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 pushed back five months to October 2022

April 25, 2020 by Gary Collinson

It looks like we’re going to have to wait a little longer before Miles Morales swings back onto the big screen, as Sony has pushed back the release of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 to October 7th 2022.

The sequel to the Oscar-winning animated film was originally slated to open in April 2022, but has been pushed back five months as a result of the public health crisis which is playing havoc with schedules and has seen production shut down on the vast majority of film and television projects worldwide.

The news coincides with the announcement that Sony and Marvel’s as-yet-untitled Spider-Man 3 starring Tom Holland has also been pushed back from its July 2021 date to November 5th 2021.

Earlier this week it was also confirmed that Venom 2 – a.k.a. Venom: Let There Be Carnage – has been moved to June 25th 2021 from October 2020, while the studio’s other Marvel movie, the Jared Leto-headlined Morbius, had earlier been delayed to March 19th 2021, having originally been slated for July 31st 2020.
