Deadpool in the MCU would be “explosive” with “infinite possibility” says Ryan Reynolds

May 8, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Ryan Reynolds says that Deadpool making his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be “explosive”.

One of the things that has fans most excited about Disney’s purchase of 20th Century Fox is the possibility that Deadpool could join the MCU. However, with Deadpool’s past two films at Fox being R-rated, how does the Ryan Reynolds vehicle fit into the family-friendly Marvel universe?

Well, this situation was touched on in an interview Reynolds gave with Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show. Fallon asked him if Deadpool would turn up in the MCU despite his adult nature or be kept separate in his own darker world:

“I see infinite possibility in either version,” said Reynolds. “If Deadpool were to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I think it would be explosive and amazing and what a sandbox to play in. If Deadpool continued to get to just do his own thing and be his own thing, also just infinite possibility.”

Deadpool being in the MCU certainly does sound like a lot of fun, with all the ways Marvel can be creative with the character’s fourth-wall-breaking antics. We will have to wait and see, of course, as while Reynolds has spoken about meeting with Marvel, nothing has been announced or confirmed as yet.
