Adam Driver to star in sci-fi thriller 65 from producer Sam Raimi and A Quiet Place writers

September 2, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Marriage Story) is set to star in Sony’s sci-fi horror thriller 65 from producer Sam Raimi and the writers of A Quiet Place, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods.

Plot details for the original story are being kept under wraps but Collider is reporting that Driver will play an opioid addict who has become a hopeless shadow of his former self. However, he’s involved in some kind of catastrophic accident, and the only other person to emerge from the crash is a 9-year-old girl who speaks a different language forcing the two of them to work together to survive.

According to Deadline, 65 will be written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods with Evil Dead and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director Sam Raimi and Zainab Azizi producing the project for Raimi Productions along with Debbie Liebling.

It is currently unclear when the film will go into production, as Driver still needs to finish production on Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel which has just restarted production after it was halted due to the ongoing global health crisis. After that finishes, he is also set to star in another Scott film, Gucci, alongside Lady Gaga, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Jared Leto.
