Michael Douglas cast as Hank Pym in Ant-Man

January 13, 2014 by admin

It was officially announced at the tail end of last year that Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues star Paul Rudd had been cast in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man and the debate then moved into which character he would play. Since then, Wright teased an appearance from both Hank Pym and Scott Lang. But which one would Rudd play? Would he play Pym or Lang?

Well, we now have our answer…

Officially confirmed by Marvel.com, Michael Douglas (Last Vegas) will be stepping into the tightest shoes of his career as he’s set to star as Hank Pym in Ant-Man.

Kevin Fiege told Marvel, “With Hank Pym’s rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves. We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn’t be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life.”

Douglas won a Golden Globe last night for his work on Behind The Candelabra.

The website also confirms that Rudd will be playing Scott Lang, just to settle all debates.

Ant-Man kicks off Phase Three of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe on July 31st 2015 and is based off a script by Wright and Joe Cornish (Attack The Block).

What do we think of Michael Douglas as Hank Pym?
