Armie Hammer exits The Offer as fallout from ‘cannibal’ scandal continues

January 31, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Having been set to sink his teeth into the role of producer Al Ruddy, Deadline is reporting that Armie Hammer has now exited The Offer, the upcoming Paramount+ series about the making of Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather, as the fallout from his recent controversy continues.

Earlier this month, explicit social media messages said to have been written by Hammer were leaked online, where the actor was said to have described himself as “100% a cannibal”, which was followed by several allegations from ex-girlfriends claiming that Hammer had been sexually abusive towards them.

Hammer denied the allegations, calling them “bullshit”, but he has since departed the upcoming Jennifer Lopez action rom-com Shotgun Wedding and also quietly exited the cast of the Sam Esmail series Gaslit, with The Offer becoming the third project he’s departed this month.

He does however have one project incoming in director Nicholas Jarecki’s Crisis, where he stars alongside the likes of Gary Oldman, Evangeline Lilly, Michelle Rodriguez, Luke Evans and Greg Kinnear. The film is out in February, and just received its first trailer earlier this week.
