Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff wrap filming on Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder

February 11, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Seemingly confirming that Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy will only play a minor role in Thor: Love and Thunder, Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff have taken to Instagram to announce that they’ve wrapped filming on the Marvel Studios sequel.

The two actresses are currently in Australia, where they’ve been shooting Love and Thunder under Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi alongside Guardians co-stars Pratt, Dave Bautista (Drax) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin). It’s yet to be confirmed at present, but one would assume that Groot (Vin Diesel) and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) will also feature in the finished movie thanks to the wonders of VFX.

While they may have wrapped filming on Love and Thunder, the Guardians cast members will soon be reprising their roles once again as they reunite with director James Gunn and co-star Zoe Saldana (Gamora) for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, along with Disney+’s The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

Directed by Thor: Ragnarok helmer Taika Waititi, who also reprises his on-screen role as Korg, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), alongside the returning Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Sean Gunn (Kraglin) and Christian Bale (Ford v Ferrari) as Gorr the God Butcher. The film is set for a May 6th, 2022 release.
