Rumoured plot details for Indiana Jones 5 surface online

May 24, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Now that the long-gestating Indiana Jones 5 finally appears to be moving forward under director James Mangold (Logan) and the cast of the film begins to fill out, The Illuminerdi has posted some alleged plot details for Indy’s latest outing, as well as details on the characters set to be portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Shaunette Renee Wilson (Black Panther).

According to the site, the as-yet-untitled sequel will jump forward in time to the 1960s during the Space Race, with Mikkelsen set to portray the villain, a Nazi scientist recruited by the United States government to work for NASA on its moon landing initiative.

Shaunette Renee Wilson will reportedly portray Mikkelsen’s CIA handler and “babysitter”. while the ex-Nazi will also be joined by a female baddie described as “an evil and brutal killer”. Apparently this role was offered to Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson, who is said to have passed on the opportunity to join the film.

It’s worth noting that this report is unconfirmed at present, but a late-1960s setting makes sense, and it would certainly be nice to see Indy going up against his old foes the Nazis one last time. Indiana Jones in Space? Nazi moonbases?! Only time will tell, but let us know what you make of these rumours on our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
