This year marks a big milestone for writer Jeph Loeb and artist Tim Sale as their groundbreaking story Batman: The Long Halloween celebrates its 25th anniversary. With Loeb and Sale’s story already having been adapted into a two-part animated film, there is even more excitement for fans as DC Comics announced the pair will be reuniting for Batman: The Long Halloween Special this fall.
Batman: The Long Halloween follows Batman in his early years of protecting Gotham City as he, Jim Gordon and Harvey Dent form an alliance to bring down mob boss Carmine Falcone and his crime family. However, a mysterious killer known only as Holiday is striking on a holiday each month, targeting members of the Falcone family. As Batman, Gordon and Dent work to solve Holiday’s identity, the rise of supervillains in Gotham causes more problems as control of the city slowly tips towards the likes of The Joker, Scarecrow and others, all the while Harvey Dent is facing his own change.
“Twenty-five years ago, Tim Sale and I set out to tell a mystery tale of how Gotham City went from crime to freaks,” said Jeph Loeb. “The result was Batman: The Long Halloween. We’re thrilled to be back at DC revisiting some of our favorite characters all the while revealing that you may not know the whole story…”

The synopsis for Batman: The Long Halloween Special is:
Join the team for the return of the Batman Halloween specials and a mystery that could destroy Batman, Commissioner Gordon, Two-Face, and…well, that would be telling, wouldn’t it?
Batman: The Long Halloween Special will be released on October 12th.
