After dominating live-action film and television, Marvel Studios is now looking to take over animation. Following the premiere of the new series What If…?, producer Brad Winderbaum has told Variety that this is just the start for MCU’s venture into animation.
“We realized that there’s a lot of cool avenues you can explore with animation,” says Winderbaum. “Any project that we create is going to be something that needs to be animated in order for the story to be told. There’s very little desire to take a piece of IP that’s popular because we’re coming out with a movie and just make an animated show about it. We’re not going to do that.”
He went on to add that Marvel Studios already has “multiple” animated series “in various phases of development.”

Variety does note that there are no plans for any animated feature films at the time of reporting, but only time will tell if Kevin Feige will turn to animated movies for Marvel’s future phases.
