New rumours may reveal huge Captain America: Civil War spoilers

December 28, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Some new rumours have emerged from The Hashtag Show concerning Marvel’s upcoming Phase Three-launching Captain America: Civil War, which if true, offer some major spoilers about the film. Read on at your own peril…

Ever since it was revealed that Marvel would be adapting Civil War for its third Captain America movie, there’s been rabid speculation about whether the MCU would follow the comic book storyline by culminating with the death of Steve Rogers. Well, according to The Hashtag Show’s report, that is indeed the case.

Apparently, the film will open with a funeral scene for Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter – something we’re definitely expecting, thanks to this set photo – and will end with the funeral of Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers.

“During the film Steve makes a deal with the government, stating that they are not to hunt down the people who allied with him during the Civil War. After Steve surrenders and is taken into custody he is killed, [although] Cap’s death is left a little ambiguous as to whether it has all been planned out or not.”

Following the funeral, it’s said there will be a scene where Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp), The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) each pick up the shield in a tease as to Steve Rogers’ successor as Captain America.

What do you make of these rumours? Would you like to see the death of Captain America playing out in Civil War? Would a faked death be too similar to the ending of The Dark Knight Rises? Let us know in the comments below…

Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
