Bryan Singer talks X-Men: Apocalypse

January 8, 2014 by admin

Last month, Bryan Singer revealed that he’s set to follow up this year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past with a quick return to the franchise in 2016 for an adaptation of the classic X-Men story arc ‘Age of Apocalypse’, and now the filmmaker has spoken about the project, revealing that he’s yet to sign on to direct the sequel, although he’s actively developing it now: “I’m co-writing the story and I’m producing it,” Singer tells EW. “I’m negotiating to direct. We’re in the process. We’re trying to figure it out, schedules. My desire would be to direct it.”

And as for the rumours that X-Men: Days of Future Past will lead into X-Men: Apocalypse with a post-credits tease, Singer revealed that’s still up in the air at present: “I’m still deciding that. Something that happens in this movie causes what’s going to happen in that movie. It will also address historical mutant-cy, meaning the deep past, mutant origins and things like that. It’s something that’s always intrigued me when we think about our Gods and our history and miracles and powers.”

Before X-Men: Apocalypse, Singer returns to the franchise in May with X-Men: Days of Future Past, which sees franchise veterans Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Lucas Till (Havok), Halle Berry (Storm), Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde), Shawn Ashmore (Iceman) and Daniel Cudmore (Colossus) joined by Omar Sy (The Intouchables) as Bishop, Evan Peters (American Horror Story) as Quicksilver, Booboo Stewart (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) as Warpath, Fan Binbing (Iron Man 3) as Blink, Evan Jonigkeig (Girls) as Toad, Adam Canto (The Following) as Sunspot, Josh Helman (Mad Max: Fury Road) as William Stryker, and Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) as Bolivar Trask.
