Free update for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night brings a crossover with Ubisoft’s Child of Light

April 2, 2022 by Andrew Newton

Publisher 505 games and Artplay Inc. have released a new update for their gothic side-scrolling action RPG Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.  This latest update provides a crossover of worlds with Ubisoft’s Child of Light and is available on Xbox and Playstation consoles, PC via Steam and GOG and on Google Stadia.  Watch the new trailer below…..

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night’s heroine Miriam has seen many crossovers, from wearing Shovel Knight’s armour in battle to riding horseback through the dead lands of Kingdom Two Crowns but now she’s taking a step back to let the Child of Light herself, Aurora, come forth and explore the Hellhold Castle.

After choosing Aurora from the main menu, players will be able to lead her through the castle in a whole new storyline with rhyming cutscenes and dialogue inspired from Child of Light.  Players who choose Aurora will be able to use her very own set of moves and abilities, including the ability to use sacred powers and wield the devastating Light Ray, plus she will be able to evolve to meet new challenges and unlock new areas.

Joining Aurora will be her loyal firefly friend Igniculus who will help her by healing, casting slow spells on enemies and providing helpful passive boosts.  It’s also possible to earn experience so his abilities can be levelled up making spells more efficient.

Aurora does NOT have the Shardbinder abilities but will be able to use shards to improve her own skills and access Familiar (passive) and Conjure (active) shards which represent her lost friends.

“I feel honored to be able to collaborate with such a prestigious title!” said Koji Igarashi, Artplay co-founder. “Lots of time, effort and coordination have gone into this and I hope you all enjoy Aurora’s active participation.”

The latest update for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is available now on PC, Xbox One and Playstation consoles and Stadia.  Look out for a Nintendo Switch version coming soon.
