Atari XP limited edition cartridges for Yars’ Return, Saboteur and Aquaventure revealed

April 12, 2022 by Andrew Newton

Atari has revealed the final designs for the limited edition Atari 2600 cartridges for Yars’ Return, Saboteur and Aquaventure.  These upcoming limited edition cartridges will start shipping this May and will deviate from the square label that Atari fans will be familiar with and instead come with its very own unique designed visual and its title etched in premium lucite on top of the cart’ that lights up when plugged into the Atari console.

Yars’ Return, Saboteur and Aquaventure all were originally scheduled for release in 1983 but due to circumstances didn’t materialise until not so long ago in the form of the cartridges we are familiar with (see image above).  However, the new Limited Edition Cartridges, coming this May, will include a number of special features that will be well worth the money to the Atari connoisseur.  These include:

  • A brand new high-quality Atari 2600 cartridge made from special plastics
  • A bold and unique label design that departs from the original cart’s
  • Game name etched in lucite with light up feature on top of the cart’
  • A digital copy of the game, playable on the Atari VCS
  • An extended instruction manual with bonus material to peruse
  • An 11×17, premium cardstock, gloss aqueous, quarter fold poster
  • A hard enamel collectible pin badge with black nickel plating
  • A polyester blend, twill-woven embroidered collectible patch to sport on your coat, bag, duvet cover etc.
  • A certificate of authenticity.

These new cartridges are manufactured to exacting standards using new parts and materials and have beveled edges to prevent pin damage, strong gold-plated connectors and identical power draw to the originals.

These Limited Edition cartridges are available to pre-order now in the US from the Atari website here.
