She-Hulk comic book writer defends Disney+ series, calls it comics accurate

January 3, 2023 by EJ Moreno

The release of Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law saw much fanfare, but the Disney+ series also saw some backlash as some fans criticized the series’ tone, feeling like it wasn’t in line with what the character would be like in the comics.

Well, one comic writer has taken offense to that and spoken about it on Twitter. Marvel’s She-Hulk comics writer Dan Slott took to social media to defend the Tatiana Maslany-led series, stating:

“Anyone saying the @SheHulkOfficial TV show wasn’t ‘comic book accurate’… I’m the guy who has written more issues of SHE-HULK than anyone. I’ve read every single comic from every #SheHulk run. And I’m saying, for the record, it is the MOST comic book-accurate show in the MCU.

Slott goes on to point out one moment that internet fans hated, and it was the scene where Jennifer Walters twerked with guest star Megan Thee Stallion. The post-credit scene went viral, and many hated it, though the campy moment does have its fans. Slott says moments like that happened often in the comics.

“People arguing the twerking scene in #SheHulk wouldn’t have happened in the comics. Byrne had She-Hulk jumping rope in a bikini. I had her karaoke-ing, dancing, & partying so hard it was causing structural damage to Avengers Mansion. This is the hill they want to die on?” says Slott. Check out the tweets below…

Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk is expected to return to the MCU soon. Rumors have pointed at her making her big-screen debut in Captain America 4.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law follows Jennifer Walters as she navigates the complicated life of a single, 30-something attorney who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law stars Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/Abomination, Benedict Wong as Wong, Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Jameela Jamil as Titania, Ginger Gonzaga as Nikki Ramos, Josh Segarra as Pug Pugliese, Jon Bass as Todd Phelps/HulkKing, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Mallory Book, Mark Linn-Baker as Morris Walters and Tess Malis Kincaid as Elaine Walters.
