Kim Kardashian goes horror! Reality TV icon heading to American Horror Story season 12

April 11, 2023 by EJ Moreno

From reality TV to real scary TV, Kim Kardashian is leaping to scripted television with a surprising new gig.

Originally shared by Ryan Murphy and later confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, Kardashian will join the twelfth season of American Horror Story. Currently titled AHS: Delicate, this marks the first starring role for the reality star.

Kardashian launched two successful reality shows focused on her famous family and has guest-starred in various shows, but never had she moved to a show quite like this. This news is even wilder because the role was written specifically with Kardashian in mind.

THR notes this season will be run by Halley Feiffer, who has written and will showrun; this marks the first time a single writer has taken on an American Horror Story season, and she’s coming in with a vision.

“Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family,” said co-creator Murphy. “Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish, and ultimately terrifying role, especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done.”

Little is known about the role or the season’s plot, but THR notes this season will have source material for the first time. As per The Hollywood Reporter, “the season is titled Delicate and is based, at least in part, on Danielle Valentine’s upcoming novel Delicate Condition. Out in August from Sourcebooks Landmark, the novel is described as a gripping thriller about a woman who becomes convinced that a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens. A cover blurb from author Andrea Bartz describes Delicate Condition as ‘the feminist update to Rosemary’s Baby we all needed.'”

Also joining Kardashian is AHS regular Emma Roberts. Roberts has not been seen on the series since AHS: 1984, so her return is a welcomed one by fans. Delicate will mark Roberts’ sixth time appearing on the show.

AHS: Delicate will begin shooting in New York City in April. A summer premiere is anticipated, with FX and Ryan Murphy reportedly announcing the premiere in May.
