Kit Harington says Jon Snow is dead in Game of Thrones and “everyone has to get used to it”

January 28, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Originally published January 28, 2016. Updated December 15, 2019.

Despite the fact he’s on the poster artwork for the sixth season, and the actor has been spotted filming scenes in Northern Ireland, Kit Harington has been speaking to Digital Spy about the fate of his Game of Thrones character Jon Snow, claiming that he’s very much dead, and “everyone has to get used to it”.

“I was hoping that there would be an outcry of ‘why?’ and ‘oh god, no, no’ rather than ‘thank god’. That was the right reaction as far as I was concerned,” said Harington with regards to the final scenes of season five, where Jon was betrayed by his Night’s Watch brothers. “People didn’t want me to die, but he’s dead. So there you go, everyone has to get used to it.”
