Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin open beta now live

July 8, 2023 by Andrew Newton

Frontier Developments have revealed that the Open Beta for Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin is now available on Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 5 and PC via Steam.  In the beta, players will jump into 1v1 multiplayer matches as memebers of either the Stormcast Eternals or the Orruk Kruleboyz.

The open beta will have players taking to battle in spectacular looking battles in the Warhammer fantasy world.  As one of the two forces they will try to take control of the map, summoning new troops, gathering resources and capturing Victory Points.  These battles can be against other players in 1v1 cross-platform play or against an AI bot.

Players will also be able to try out the DirectStep control scheme for the first time.  This control scheme allows for rapid-fire movement orders, instant cycling between units and more flexible commands via the controller.  The more traditional mouse and keyboard controls will also be available to PC and console players.

Aside from taking part in the epic battles between good and evil, those who sign up to the beta will have the opportunity to see the brilliant art and animation not seen in the tabletop counterparts.  See the Stormcast Eternals’ Annihilators and winged Prosecutors or the Orruk Kruleboyz’ Marshcrawla Sloggoth and mobs of Hobgrot Slittaz.

The Open Beta is available now and will run until 10th July on Xbox Series X/S, PS 5 and PC.
