Gal Gadot on her Snow White audition for Disney: “They needed to make sure I can sing”

August 17, 2023 by EJ Moreno

For an actress like Gal Gadot, job offers must roll in. Many will seek out star power without needing anything else, but for Gadot’s latest project, they wanted to test her skills.

In a new GQ interview, the actress dove into the Snow White project, where she’ll star as the Evil Queen. She’ll join noted vocalist Rachel Zegler as the titular princess; that’s where the filmmakers behind Disney’s next live-action remake had to see what Gal Gadot could do.

Gadot tells GQ, “It was the first time I had to kind of audition for a project in a while. They needed to make sure I can sing because this is a musical. So, for a month, I was working on the song, and then I auditioned, and we filmed the song, and I got the part, and it was very exciting.”

Gadot also recalls the experience shooting the project, exclaiming: “It was so much to shoot because it’s so different from anything I’ve ever done. It’s so delicious and delightful, and I could really go big and theatrical.”

Marc Webb will helm Snow White from a script co-written by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson. Originally slated to begin production in 2020, filming began two years later, with Gadot filming her scenes in April 2022.

At the time of writing, there’s no word on when Disney’s Snow White will be released. Reports claim there are looking for some time in mid-2024.
