While Michael Keaton found himself front and centre of the marketing campaign for The Flash, the Batman and Batman Returns star wasn’t the only former Caped Crusader to make his return in this year’s big DC multiversal flop.
While he didn’t don the Batsuit, George Clooney made a surprise cameo appearance in the film’s final scene as Bruce Wayne, the actor having returned to the role his made infamous with 1997’s Batman & Robin, and during the premiere of his latest directorial effort The Boys in the Boat, Clooney has finally addressed his own DC return.
“Well, I thought … there was such a clamor for me to come back as Batman … there was a clamor,” joked Clooney while speaking to Entertainment Tonight. “I actually said, ‘Where are my rubber nipples?’ And they were like, ‘Can we do it without the rubber nipples?’ I was like, ‘Well, it’s not really my Batman, is it?’

Clooney’s shock appearance as the DCEU’s current Bruce Wayne also prompted speculation that the actor could find himself the new Batman of James Gunn’s DC Universe reboot, although Clooney seemingly ruled out a return for Batman: The Brave and the Bold, adding: “I don’t think there’s enough drugs in the world for me to go back again.”
