Barry Keoghan recalls the infamous Saltburn ending: “It’s ownership. This is my place”

December 26, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Spoilers ahead for Saltburn, but if you’ve been on the internet this weekend, you’ve heard all about the ending of Saltburn.

As the twisted Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) lies, cheats, and steals his way into owning Saltburn, he takes a stroll around his new house. After slurping up bodily fluids and making love to graves, Oliver declares the house his by nakedly dancing around every room of the expansive manor.

With a scene like that, it takes quite a bit of nerve to pull a scene like that and the Saltburn actor Barry Keoghan is opening up about it.

Speaking to EW a while back, the Irish actor spills the beans on pulling it off. “It totally felt right,” Keoghan said. “It’s ownership. This is my place. It’s full confidence in, ‘I can do what I want in this manor. I can strip to my barest and waltz around because this is mine.’ Yeah… it was fun.”

Keoghan expressed his hesitation, though. “The initial thing was about me having no clothes on. I’m a bit, ehh,” he recalled. “But after take one, I was ready to go. I was like, ‘Let’s go again. Let’s go again.’ You kind of forget because there’s such a comfortable environment created, and it gives you that license to go, ‘All right, this is about the story now.'”

Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) develops an infatuation with the charismatic Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi), who invites him to meet his aristocratic but eccentric family over the summer.

Saltburn is streaming now on Amazon Prime.
