The Accountant 2 will see Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, J.K. Simmons and Cynthia Addia-Robinson returning for sequel

March 8, 2024 by Ricky Church

The Accountant 2 is officially a go with Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, J.K. Simmons and Cynthia Addai-Robinson returning for the sequel and, per Deadline, we have our first inkling of what Affleck’s Christian Wolff will be up against.

The Accountant was released in 2016 and starred Affleck as Christian Wolff, an accountant with autism who, along with dealing in legitimate finances and businesses, has ties to several criminal organizations by laundering their money and has a set of deadly skills on his own, being proficient with several weapons and forms of hand-to-hand combat. After Wolff found discrepancies in a robotics company, he was the target of several hitmen as well as agents from the Treasury Department following his network.

Bernthal portrayed Brax, Wolff’s estranged brother who was tasked with killing him, while Simmons and Addai-Robinson were Treasury agents Ray King and Marybeth Medina.

The Accountant 2 begins “when Medina’s former boss is killed by unknown assassins, and she’s forced to contact Christian to solve the murder. With the help of his estranged but highly lethal brother Brax, Chris applies his brilliant mind and less-than-legal methods to piece together the unsolved puzzle. As they get closer to the truth, the trio draw the attention of some of the most ruthless killers alive — all intent on putting a stop to their search.”

The Accountant 2 will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company Artists Equity. Gavin O’Connor will return to the director’s chair with a script written by The Accountant writer Bill Dubuque. Also producing is 51 Entertainment’s Lynette Howell Taylor and Mark Williams with Artists Equity’s Dani Bernfeld, Kevin Halloran, Michael Joe and Alison Winter executive producing.
