A sequel to the Hellraiser reboot is still being developed

April 4, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Hellraiser made its mainstream return with the Hulu release of 2022’s reboot, but it’s been quite some time since we’ve had any follow-up news.

Producer Keith Levine has finally provided a tiny morsel for fans, saying that they’re in the early stages of crafting a Hellraiser 2.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Levine notes, “We are trying to do a follow-up, and there have been conversations. I can’t exactly say where we’re at in those conversations, but [director David Bruckner] is involved in those conversations.”

“We spent a lot of time and energy, I think, relaunching that world. A lot of brainpower going into crafting the Cenobite design, figuring out how we’re going to pull them off, and we learned so much,” the producer adds. “I think moving forward, we love that all that knowledge is sort of banked and that time has been spent. So we think that moving forward and going into another movie is just going to be even crazier and even more awesome. So yeah, that’s something we’re definitely hard at work on, and hope we will have more news soon.”

Jamie Clayton took over the role of Lead Cenobite, aka Pinhead, which was initially met with resistance from the fandom but later praised as one of the better parts of Hellraiser 2o22. The film was the most critically praised entry in the series since the 1987 Clive Barker original.

In “Hellraiser,” a young woman struggling with addiction comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension.

Hellraiser is directed by David Bruckner (The Ritual, The Night House) and features a cast that includes Odessa A’zion (Fam), Jamie Clayton (Sense8), Adam Faison (Everything’s Gonna Be Okay), Drew Starkey (Outer Banks), Brandon Flynn (13 Reasons Why), Aoife Hinds (Normal People), Jason Liles (Rampage), Yinka Olorunnife (The Transporter), Selina Lo (Boss Level), Zachary Hing (Halo), Kit Clarke (Leonardo), Goran Visnjic (The Boys) and Hiam Abbass (Succession).
