Jodie Comer to lead Kenneth Branagh’s The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde

May 16, 2024 by Ricky Church

Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) and Kenneth Branagh (A Haunting in Venice) will team up for The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde, an original film Branagh wrote and will direct according to Deadline.

There is no logline for the film, but it will be “a contemporary psychological thriller” with Comer as the lead. This will mark the first film Branagh has written since his Oscar-winning screenplay Belfast, which he also directed.

Branagh is just coming off of directing A Haunting in Venice, his third outing as Agatha Christie’s Inspector Hercule Poirot. Last year he also had a small role in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer as physicist Niels Bohr and provided his voice as the main antagonist in the Netflix anime Blue Eye Samurai.

Comer is most known for her role as the sociopathic assassin Villanelle in Killing Eve. Her career has been on the rise since first starring in the show with some of her films being Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, The Last Duel, Free Guy and The End We Start From. She’ll be seen next in The Bikeriders this summer [read our review here] and is set to begin production on Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later alongside Aaron-Taylor Johnson, Ralph Fiennes and Jack O’Connell.
